GJEPC awards to spotlight export performance, value addition, employment generation and R&D as India’s gems and jewellery sector eyes stronger global positioning
The Gems and Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) is set to host the 52nd India Gem & Jewellery Awards (IGJA), bringing together key stakeholders from India’s gems and jewellery industry to recognise business performance and contributions to the sector.
The awards, established by GJEPC more than five decades ago, were initially created to honour leading exporters of gems and jewellery. Over the years, the evaluation framework has expanded beyond export performance to include value addition, employment generation and investment in research and development, among other parameters.
The 52nd edition will feature Shri Amit Shah, Union Minister of Home Affairs and Minister of Cooperation, Government of India, as the chief guest. Shri Devendra Fadnavis, Chief Minister of Maharashtra, and Shri Harsh Sanghavi, Deputy Chief Minister of Gujarat, are also listed among the distinguished guests.
The event is scheduled to take place at the BDB Volleyball Court, Bharat Diamond Bourse (BDB), Bandra Kurla Complex, Mumbai.
The awards come at a significant time for India’s gems and jewellery sector, which remains closely linked to the country’s merchandise exports and its positioning as a global hub for diamond processing and jewellery manufacturing.
According to GJEPC, the IGJA also recognises institutions beyond manufacturers and exporters, including banks that support the industry’s growth, reflecting the wider financial and business ecosystem behind the sector.
The awards programme covers multiple areas of industry performance and special recognition. GJEPC’s award framework includes Industry Performance Awards, Special Recognition Awards, Felicitation categories and an award recognising banks supporting the industry.
Ernst & Young LLP (EY) serves as the Knowledge Partner for the India Gem & Jewellery Awards, supporting the awards’ evaluation framework.
The 52nd IGJA is expected to bring together exporters, manufacturers, jewellers, financial institutions and other industry stakeholders for an evening focused on recognising performance and strengthening the industry’s contribution to Brand India.
